Never-ending footsteps

Beneficiary: Ren Yi Chuan School: Sichuan Tongjiang Second Middle School Grade: high school grade three Journalist: Fu Yang - Rainbow Village Date of documentation: August 29th 2016

When Ren Yi Chuan’s father was working in a construction site, he was hit in the eye by cemment, causing damage to his retinas. He was in the hospital for months, without compensation for a work injury, and because of this eye damage, his father became semi-blind in his left eye, and was unable to find work. He eventually returned home to become a farmer. Ren Yi Chuan’s mother suffers from chronic pain due to working long hours in the fields, and alongside the school fees for Ren Yi Chuan and his brother, the pressure upon this family was suffocating.

This year, Sheen Hok was able to help and donate money for students in Sichuan Tongjiang Second Middle School through rainbow village. After receiving financial support, Ren Yi Chuan’s first thought was to give the money to his parents, to allow his parents who were constantly worrying about money to feel relieved. Ren Yi Chuan, who only returns homme once a month, feels heartbroken over the weary and tired faces of his parents, and does his best to help with chores and farming as soon as he finishes his homework.

Ren Yi Chuan never let his parents worry about him all throughout his life, and his parents were never worried about his academics. Ren Yi Chuan, who always believs that knowledge can change your life, dreams of attending the Renmin University of China, and believes that attending university will help him improve his family’s quality of life, which is his ultimate goal!

We hope that Ren Yi Chuan can continue to persevere, and have a lovely home for his family one day!

To relieve stress, Ren Yi Chuan plays badminton, breaking out a sweat.

During his lunch break, Ren Yi Chuan rushes back to his dormitory to do his laundry by hand.

Ren Yi Chuan, who worries that his English is not good enough always sneaks out to the balcony to learn vocabulary.
